The details.

"To create something exceptional, your mindset must be relentlessly focused on the smallest detail.” –Giorgio Armani

There is something incredible about creating something. I don’t know exactly how to describe what it is, but when you are in the process of creating something there is an excitement and an energy that feels so amazing to be a part of!  It’s the ability to take something that is seemingly insignificant and turn it into something incredible. It’s the ability to see a blank canvas and turn it into a beautiful work of art. It’s the ability to nurture and foster something through a process of growing it into full bloom.  It’s the ability to see several moving parts and bring them together to make something that when combined turns into something truly amazing. I LOVE THAT FEELING!

All of us are creators in one way or another. Some create art. Some create music. Some create buildings. Some create companies. Some create an atmosphere. Some create an experience. Some create opportunities.  We are all creators, but the creators who truly stand out, the creators that are remembered, are the creators who relentlessly focus on the smallest details.

It’s the details that make the difference. They are the difference between good and great, between mediocre and masterpiece…

Take Michelangelo, or Bernini….I’ve seen amazing sculptures before but when I saw the Bernini exhibit at the Borghese Mansion in Italy I was blown away. His sculptures were absolutely amazing. The level of and attention to detail made his sculptures breathtakingly beautiful. Or take a Lladro…on a trip to Spain I was able to visit the Lladro factory and watch as the artisans meticulously hand formed each petal of each flower in the statues…it is these details that make the masterpiece.

“We are born to create, and we can’t help it. Why is that? Because God, the great Creator, is in us.”–Ernest Holmes

We are all creators, so why not choose to be creators of the exceptional? Plus I’ve always felt that paying attention to those smallest of details is the best way to show how much we care.
