Wake and District to Perform at National Police Week

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Wake and District Public Safety Pipes and Drums to Perform at National Police Week Honor Guard Tribute Reflecting Pool at the U.S. Capitol — Thursday, May 14, 2026

Raleigh, North Carolina — Wake and District Public Safety Pipes and Drums will travel to Washington, DC in May 2026 to participate in the National Police Week Honor Guard Tribute at the U.S. Capitol Reflecting Pool on Thursday, May 14, 2026. The performance will take place between approximately 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., bringing ceremonial music to a gathering of law enforcement professionals and memorial participants from across the country.

Since our founding in 2006, Wake and District Public Safety Pipes and Drums has been a dedicated public safety pipe band serving the Wake County and City of Raleigh region. From the earliest days of the organization, our mission has been clear: For Our Fallen — performing with honor, respect, and solemnity in services for fallen heroes and in support of public safety agencies. Whether at memorial services, line-of-duty funerals, community events, or civic commemorations, we exist to honor lives given in service and to support those who continue to protect our communities.

National Police Week occurs each May and brings thousands to our Nation’s Capital for a week of remembrance, support, and reflection honoring law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.  The Honor Guard Tribute — known as the Steve Young National Honor Guard Exhibition & Tribute — features ceremonial performances by honor guard teams and pipe bands from across the United States and Canada. These presentations pay tribute to the fallen, their families, and active public safety professionals committed to vigilant service.

Being selected to perform at this event is an extraordinary honor for Wake and District Public Safety Pipes and Drums. Each note played will serve as an echo of remembrance to those who have given their lives, and will stand as a tribute to courage, sacrifice, resilience, and community. For the band’s members, standing alongside law enforcement professionals from across the nation in such a deeply meaningful setting reflects the core values we carry in every performance.

“We are humbled and deeply privileged to take part in a tribute of this magnitude,” said leadership from Wake and District Public Safety Pipes and Drums. “Our hearts are with all families of the fallen, and our music will honor their legacy with dignity and reverence.”

Wake and District Public Safety Pipes and Drums regularly supports public safety ceremonies throughout North Carolina, and participation in National Police Week underscores our continued commitment to service, respect, and remembrance.
