Theodore Roosevelt said – “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” May we add — “with those around you“. Wake and District is grateful to have so many caring, sharing and daring members (and families) supporting our endeavor to make music. This past Saturday we were able to spend some time together to reflect and celebrate another year together.
We culminated our 2018 at our 13th annual band Christmas Party. It has been an amazing year — and it was nice to celebrate the Christmas Season together. The band held a rather swanky party at The London Bridge (110 East Hargett Street, Raleigh) where the staff was warm and welcoming — and the food and spirits were flowing. What a turnout with over 80 band members, family and friends in attendance.
The band presented the covenanted “throne” trophies to following members for 2018:
Drummer of the year – Fisher Reese — Piper of the Year – “Dame“ Bridgette Englebreston — Band member of the year – Jon Mason.
It is AMAZING the number of great people in our lives we wouldn’t have ever met if it wasn’t for music.
The music we play as a band is the space we all share and one of the only true common denominators amongst us. We look forward to sharing more music with all of you in the year to come.
