Time.

“Your time is your investment. What are you investing your time into?  Are you spending your time on something that will pay off in the future?”   - unknown

My little brother Andy is an amazing songwriter, singer, and guitar player. In the lyrics to one of his songs he wrote many years ago he states, “Our world tomorrow holds what we’ve done today.”  It impacted me enough to print out that line from his song and hang it on my wall of my office so every day I looked at it I would remember that it was my actions I was taking that day that were going to determine how amazing my tomorrow could be.  I realize that concept probably seems like a bit of a “duh” to most of you, but for me at that time I heard it, it was something I hadn’t been paying enough attention to, so it really inspired me to do better.

I was reading an article today written by Chomwa Shitaki titled “Take Time To Invest In Yourself. Your Future Depends On It,” and it reminded me of my brother’s song lyric.  In the article he states:

“Where you will stand and what new things you will be capable of doing tomorrow will largely depend on what you do to improve yourself today.  Without working on ourselves and improving ourselves every day, it would be unrealistic for us to expect a much different future from the one we have right now, it would also be unrealistic for us to perform better in the future, because we will be no different tomorrow from the person we are today.…

The worst thing you can do that will self-sabotage the ‘future’ you is continuing to do the same thing and assuming that you will automatically improve and advance to where you wish to be. That is definitely wishful thinking. No improvement in our lives will happen automatically without us working on them. If we want to get better then we have to work on it. And no one is exempt from this fact….

The effort you put into consistently investing in yourself will also play a large role in determining the quality of your life now and in the future.

What areas in your personal life can you do well to invest in? “

It’s smart to do an honest evaluation of ourselves and consider -- What are we investing our time into?  Spend your time today on things that will create an amazing tomorrow…your future self will thank you!
